In my quest to be more healthy I’ve started to use more homemade products, or products which are made in Sweden, using organic ingredients and are non-toxic.
The latest thing I threw out, was my deodorant. I’ve tried mineral deodorant before, but always found that they didn’t work…at all! I tried a deodorant from Urtekram called Deo Crystal. It was supposed to smell a bit like roses, but I honestly feel that it smells of sweat as I apply it.
Since it’s all natural, it’s not stopping you from sweating, it’s not an anti-perspirant. But I find that I don’t absolutely stink! And after only 2-3 weeks of use, I smell less and less, as is normal, as the body is not used to this, and in the beginning you will smell more.
This is how I make my deodorant:
- 1 tbsp potato powder
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- Small amount of raw vanilla powder
- A couple of drops of tea tree oil
Put everything in a pot, let it melt and blend thoroughly. Pour in to a jar.
(You can also use a water bath to melt the ingredients in a jar)
Once you’ve showered or washed under your arms, apply a small amount of the deodorant. Let dry a little before putting on clothes.
You can add other essential oils if you want a scent in your deodorant.
